Booth Felt founded as one of the first full-service felt product companies in the U.S.
1940
Mueller founded by Fred N. Mueller as “Mueller Belting & Specialty Co.” in Manhattan
1941
Mueller supplied the first fuel tank gaskets for U.S. fighter planes in WWII
1965
Sur-Seal founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, by Xavier University professor Edward Wilz
1970
Sur-Seal entered the HVAC industry by developing a thermal gasket for the Apollo Command Module

Meet Our CEO

In 2022, Sur-Seal announced the appointment of Dana Waterman as CEO. He brings a wealth of managerial experience, having served in CEO roles since 2002, including assignments in the rubber and plastic industries. He has led companies serving the industrial, medical, aerospace, packaging, building products, and oil and gas markets. He started his career in engineering and business development in the aerospace and defense industries after graduating with an engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Sur-Seal is owned by Heartwood Partners, a middle market private equity firm founded in 1982 with headquarters in Norwalk, CT. Heartwood currently manages over $1 billion in investments and commitments, with a focus on supporting family and management-owned manufacturers, value-added distributors, food, chemical, consumer products, and business service companies.
